It is really really hard to find good food in the west area, especially the red line ( I am referring to MRT colour line). After 4 years in NUS, I really appreciated my 4 years stint in the east and pity all the rest who never got to study in TJC, with its famous hawker centre right opposite, can still remember the famous hill street char kway tiaw and if thats has too long queue, rows of great food await at cheap prices
and even right at the hostel doorstep there is the very famous albeit expensive tanjung rhu pau. And if you are feeling hungry in the middle of the night, 24 mcD and KFC is just a 10 mins walk away.
and of course not to forget the super famous OLD Airport road hawker centre is within walking distance, though in singapore hot weather I always took a bus instead.
cravings for Indon food is also satisfied at city plaza, and now that Koi opened a branch in Marine Parade, where I hang out almost every saturday, I really feel like extorting money from my mom n dad to give me enough to stay in the condos nearby. Of course all that is still just talk and dream haha
but someday, someday I am moving back to the GLORIOUS EAST.
for now, I will blog about the meagre and a little decent food places of the west
starting with teck whye coffeeshops where I had my sze char dinner often, some of the dishes were quite decent.
but there is one outstanding stall, its called char-grill and served decent if not good western food

this one set cost 8 or 9 buckaroos, but it is a LOT, there is multiple meat, i think lamb and pork chops and a giant sausage, nice mashed potato and fragrant raisin rice, and to top it all off, a sunny side up.
I had it right after my kayaking course and it was really satisfying.
ps: the decent sze char stall is the one located right next to char grill
ps2: char-grill served spring chicken, of the best, as the BF claimed
